The Goals of the Initiative

An overwhelming response: The original goal for year one was to enroll twelve growers and 1,500 acres in a program to demonstrate and evaluate practices and systems that build healthy soils. These expectations were soon surpassed with an overwhelming response from producers as 5,200 acres of cover crops were planted on 90 fields across 27 growers. Tools and methods learned through management of these acres will be made available to farmers so that these practices and systems will see increased adoption.
Our partners: This initiative would not be possible without the support from a diverse group of partners. A Conservation Innovation Grant through the Natural Resource Conservation Service serves as the primary means of support. Other partners include the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Monsanto Company, Pinnacle Ag, Jimmy Sanders, Cresco, and Cover Crop Solutions.
